Meadowhall is inviting visitors to help create a new local football anthem for the city. This is to celebrate Sheffield hosting games for the UEFA Women’s EURO 2022.

There will be two drop-in sessions this Friday (29th April), giving visitors the opportunity to create and develop musical ideas, lyrics and themes alongside members of one of the UK's most prestigious orchestras.

The free workshops will run on Lower High Street, next to Superdry at Meadowhall and visitors can drop in at any time between 11am – 1pm and 3pm – 4.30pm.

The Anthem will be played at the Sheffield Fanzone before the matches in July. Sheffield will be one of nine cities chosen to host games for the tournament in July this year.

Darren Pearce, centre director at Meadowhall, said: “This is a great chance for our community to come together and create something special in celebration of the Women’s Euro 2022.”

“Having travelled all over the world, we are excited to now welcome the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra to Meadowhall, and together we are calling on all football fans, music lovers and everyone in between to come down to the centre and play their part in such a wonderful time for Sheffield. We can’t wait to hear the final anthem.”

The centre will also welcome pupils from local primary schools ‘Hinde House’ and ‘Hatfield Academy’ who will take part in private workshops with the Orchestra on the same day.
