Sheffield City Coucil is planning a special event to honour two local athletes who've won silver at the Olympics. Jessica Ennis-Hill and Bryony Page are both bringing medals home from Rio. Councillors say they want to speak to the athletes before confirming any details of what the event will involve. A spokesperson said: “Heartfelt congratulations to Jessica Ennis-Hill and Bryony Page on their silver medal success at the Olympics. Both Jess and Bryony will inspire others across this sporting city to follow in their footsteps. “We will be arranging an event to honour Jess and Bryony and will confirm the details once we have spoken with the athletes.” The event could also mark Jessica's retirement from athletics after she admitted she wants to leave the sport on a high. The 30-year-old said she had almost made up her mind over her future, but wanted to take her time over such a huge decision''. She won silver in the heptathlon, two years after the birth of her son Reggie and with her best score since landing gold at London 2012. Gymnast Bryony Page made history on Friday when she not only became the first Briton to reach the Olympic trampolining final, but went on to secure a silver medal. Her coach Paul Greaves told Hallam he hopes Bryony's success will raise the profile of the sport locally, and inspire others to take up gymnastics.
