Investigation after woman sexually assaulted and chased in Sheffield cemetary

Police are investigating after a woman was sexually assaulted and then chased through a Sheffield cemetery.

The incident happened at the General Cemetery in Sharrow at 2:30pm on Monday afternoon (March 10).

The victim reported being approached from behind, assaulted and then chased towards Cemetery Road by a man.

He fled towards Grange Crescent Road after a passer-by intervened.

The victim is now being supported by specially trained officers.

Sheffield South West Neighbourhood Policing Team Inspector Amy Mellor said: "I understand that news of this incident may cause concern in the local community."

"I would like to reassure the public that an investigation has been launched and enquiries are underway."
