Second Rock N Roll Circus dazzles crowds Don Valley Bowl
Thousands turned out to what's dubbed as 'The Greatest Show in Sheffield'
Last updated 5th Sep 2024
The curtains have been drawn on this year's Rock N Roll circus - held, for its second edition, at the Don Valley Bowl here in Sheffield.
We've seen spectacular performances, mesmerising entertainment - and of course a good bit of sunshine shinning on the people of South Yorkshire over the past three days.
Big-name acts including Becky Hill, Joel Corry and Cian Ducrot took to the stage, alongside Sheffield legends Milburn and Richard Hawley.
Organisers promised the 2024 edition to be 'bigger and better' - and they certainly delivered.
'An explosion of colour, laughter and light'
From the event, Jon Corbett told us: "It's been an incredible three days - it takes a long time to set up an event like this, but the Sheffield fans have come out like they always do.
"We've not only had amazing music, but we've had the full fanfare of the circus, and it's been amazing.
"It's been brilliant, being the second year here. The first year was unbelievable, and because we had a concept down this year, we amped it up this year with a bigger line-up, bigger bands - and another stage too.
"One of my highlights has been the bubble person, actually! She's called a 'bubble-ologist' and there's some serious skill in this - I was absolutely mesmerised.
"But across the weekend, there's been an explosion of colour, laughter and light - and it's all been worthwhile."
And the crowds certainly got rocking with the music - with one of the highlights featuring Cian Ducrot - performing in Sheffield for just the fourth time in his career.
It was a particularly special afternoon with Cian - with the Irish singer-songwriter performing to the crowds of South Yorkshire on his birthday.
'Sheffield is a beautiful place'
Chatting with us at the event, Cian Ducrot called his set 'so much fun'.
He said: "I had a birthday cake come out - and I was kind of surprised what was going on, to be honest! I was like, 'do I eat it now, do I wait?' That was really fun.
"But about the set in general - the crowd was great and I loved it.
"There were so many who came out for my birthday, holding posters at the barrier. It was very special, especially as usually I don't aim to do anything on my birthday but I was like, I wanted to have some fun - and I'm very glad that I did.
"Sheffield is a beautiful place - every time I come here I find new things to explore. It's kind of like my home town, actually - it's small, it's a city, it's beautiful... what else do you want?!
"And what made my set even more special is that my new single - one of my favourite songs, actually - is out today too. It means a lot to me, and holds a special place in my heart."
Organisers are already teasing a third year at the Don Valley Bowl - and if this year's event is anything to go by, there'll be plenty more fire, plenty more mind-blowing tricks - and plenty more awesome music.
