Royal visit to South Yorkshire a 'huge opportunity' for the region
King Charles is visiting Doncaster with the Queen Consort later today
It's thought today's Royal Visit in South Yorkshire will be a 'huge opportunity' for the region.
King Charles is coming to Doncaster later-along with the Queen Consort Camilla-to officially acknowledge the location as a city.
Oliver Coppard is the Metro Mayor of South Yorkshire:
"King Charles is a huge part of history and we're all really looking forward to it.
"There's no doubt that King Charles is going to receive an incredibly warm welcome.
"It's brilliant to see our new king so soon into his reign coming to South Yorkshire to support Doncaster in becoming South Yorkshire's second city.
"Any time you get a Royal visit, it's a big chance to celebrate our region.
"Doncaster is a thriving city with a really bright future.
"I think the King coming and seeing all the incredible work that's going on in Doncaster and the ambitious nature of the place will be very memorable for him."
Doncaster officially became a city at the start of November after being awarded the status as part of the Queen's Jubilee celebrations earlier this year.
