Mental Health Services in Rotherham need to be easier for young people to find and access - that's what teenagers in the town are calling for. The area's youth cabinet has been looking into what support is available and what needs improving. As part of their research they've found issues around a lack of funding and stigmas around mental health. In response - A spokesman for Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust (RDaSH), who run the Children and Young People’s Mental Health Service in Rotherham, said: ”We are currently working with our partners to further improve and enhance our Children and Young People’s Mental Health Services in Rotherham. “We do have a self-referral drop-in service for young people at the Eric Manns building, Moorgate Street, in Rotherham, every Thursday from 3pm to 5pm, and we are working towards providing more flexible services in a range of settings. “We are currently seeing urgent assessments on the same day and routine assessments are carried out in 3 - 4 weeks from the referral being received. Children and young people are then seen on the needs of that individual. “We are looking to develop more groups and courses for young people. Any young person with concerns about mental health can either contact our duty team on 01709 304808 or call in at our drop in self-referral service mentioned above. We will also be working with the young people on the recommendations that have been made.”
