Rotherham United have strengthened their defence with the signing of Emmanuel Adegboyega from Norwich City for an undisclosed fee.

The 22-year-old defender has signed a contract with the Millers until the summer of 2027.

Adegboyega is the second January signing for Rotherham manager Matt Hamshaw, following Leeds United loanee Harry Gray’s arrival earlier this month.

The former Republic of Ireland U21 international has gained valuable first-team experience in recent seasons, playing on loan at Walsall and Dundee United.

During his loan spell at Walsall, Adegboyega impressed with his performances that helped the team push for play-off contention, earning him the EFL’s Young Player of the Month honour in February 2024.

In the same year, Adegboyega became a regular starter at Scottish Premiership club Dundee United, making 31 appearances during his temporary move north of the border.

Before joining Norwich City in 2023, Adegboyega began his career in his native Ireland with Drogheda United, where his performances caught the attention of the Championship side. Following his arrival at Carrow Road, his early playing involvement was with Norwich’s U21 team.

The Millers identified him as a potential signing last summer.
