Man charged with assaulting police officer with knife in Rotherham

The officers suffered injuries to his neck during the incident at Kimberworth Park on Thursday

A man has been charged after a police officer was assaulted with a knife in Rotherham last week.

Police were called to reports of threatening behaviour at Kimberworth Park at around 2:30pm on Thursday (July 17).

An officer suffered injuries to his neck after being attacked at the scene.

Glynn Leedell, 45, of Binders Road, is charged with harassment, assault of an emergency worker, and wounding with intent.

He appeared before Sheffield Magistrates' Court on Saturday and has been remanded into custody ahead of an appearance at Sheffield Crown Court on August 18.
