The Labour MP for Rotherham is pushing to get the law changed - in an attempt 'ban' low-level post boxes in newbuilds.

Sarah Champion wants to see the legislation changes - which could go through later this summer.

She says it'll help protect postal workers from injuries:

“The people who deliver our post every day, face real risks. We have evidence that low-level letter boxes increase the risk of dog bites, can cause back strain and serious injury.

Other countries have established mandatory height standards on letterboxes, so why can’t we? Our posties deserve as much.”

Last week, Sarah Champion supported a Ten-Minute Rule Bill in Parliament, which standardises the height of letterboxes in newbuilds.

This Bill would act as an effective ban on low-level post boxes in new builds, protecting postal workers from injury and trauma, and ensuring developers follow safe building standards.
