43-year-old man has been jailed for nearly three years for the sexual abuse of two girls in Doncaster over 20 years ago. Jason Lee Garside, of Thicket Drive, Maltby, appeared before Sheffield Crown Court today to be sentenced to two years and ten months behind bars for his crimes. At a trial last month, a jury found Garside guilty of two counts of indecent assault. He had entered guilty pleas to a further two counts of indecent assault and one count of gross indecency at the beginning of the trial. The offences against two girls under ten-years-old took place in Doncaster between 1989 and 1994. Speaking after the sentencing, Detective Constable Nichole Russell said: “Garside’s victims have shown exceptional bravery, especially as he continued to deny elements of his offending and put them through the painful process of recounting their abuse at a trial. “Throughout, they have conducted themselves admirably and I hope they are reassured by today’s sentencing, knowing their abuser is finally behind bars. “This case further demonstrates that South Yorkshire Police will take robust action against those who sexually abuse children, regardless of when the abuse took place, and we will do whatever we can to bring these offenders before the courts.” Garside was also given an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order and placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life.
