A Rotherham man has gone on trial accused of the murder of a guest house landlady in Bridlington.

A jury at Hull Crown Court has today heard Bei Carter was stabbed and left in a room at the Morayland Hotel last July. The court heard that 53 year old John Heald from Rotherham had checked in as a guest on July 17th - the night before she died. The prosecution has claimed she was working upstairs when he violently attacked and murdered her.

The jury was told he has admitted killing Mrs Carter but said it was an accident, telling police he had been threatened by some men and stabbed her accidentally during a pulling and tugging on the knife''. John Heald is charged with three counts of rape and one count of murder - he denies all the charges and the case continues.
