Jailed sex offender guilty of assaulting third girl in Rotherham
A man already serving a 24 year sentence for the sexual assault of two girls has been convicted of raping a third.
A man who is already serving a prison sentence for sex crimes against two young girls in Rotherham has now been convicted of raping a third.
45 year old Aftab Hussain, who is in the midst of a 24 year sentence, admitted to attacking the 15 year old in Rotherham 20 years ago.
He appeared before Sheffield Crown Court earlier this week (October 16).
Hussain was investigated as part of Operation Stovewood, the National Crime Agency's investigation of historical allegations of sexual abuse in the South Yorkshire town.
The victim spoke to specially trained officers in 2019, recounting how Hussain approached her when she was alone in a park.
After she refused to accompany him, he grabbed her before leading her to a secluded spot near a canal and raping her.
NCA lead investigating officer, Mitch Leach, said: “The NCA has ensured that the women Hussain raped and assaulted when they were children have had their stories of horrific abuse heard in court.
“Hussain’s victims have shown enormous courage by recounting what he did to them, and now another woman who bravely spoke out after years suffering in silence has finally seen her abuser face justice.
“I urge anyone who was abused as a child to please report it to the police. Specially trained officers are ready and waiting to help.”
