Four members of a gang who groomed girls in Rotherham have launched appeals against their convictions.

A spokesman for the judiciary confirmed brothers Arshid and Basharat Hussain, their uncle Qurban Ali and Karen McGregor have all submitted an appeal against their convictions.

Qurban, Arshid, Basaharat, and a third brother Bannaras, have also lodged appeals against their sentences.

The group were sentenced at Sheffield Crown Court in February as part of Operation Clover.

Arshid was given a sentece of 35 years, while Basharat and Bannaras were handed 25 years and 19 years respectively.

Qurban was jailed for 10 years. Karen MacGregor was given 13 years.

The appeals have been lodged at the Court of Appeal Criminal Division.

All cases are still at the first stage in a criminal appeal. The papers will then go to a judge who decides if the appeal will be allowed to a hearing in front of three judges.
