Two charged after Rotherham disturbance that left man in life threatening condition

It's after a crash and a brawl in North Anston earlier this week

Police have charged two men in connection with a disturbance in a Rotherham village earlier this week, which left a man in a life threatening condition.

Officers were called at 10am on Monday morning to Woodland Drive in North Anston after reports of a grey Audi A3 and a white Audi S3 crashing into the gates of a home.

A brawl is then said to have broken out in the street.

A 21 year old man remains in a critical condition, while two other men also attended hospital.

Liam Hancock, 33, of Caperns Road in Rotherham, is charged with violent disorder and attempt to cause grievous bodily harm.

Michael Hall, 44, of Worksop Road in Rotherham, is charged with violent disorder and possessing a knife blade or sharp pointed article in a public place.

Both are due before Sheffield Magistrates Court today (September 10).

Another man, 37, who was also seriously injured, has been questioned on suspicion of wounding causing grievous bodily harm and remains in custody.

South Yorkshire Police Senior investigating officer, Detective Chief Inspector James Horsfield said:

"I would like to offer my thanks to our local communities for their support with our ongoing investigation, and the information they have provided to our team. It has been vital in helping us understand the events which has led to a young man being left in a critical condition.

"Our officers will remain in the local area over the coming days to offer reassurance. They are there to listen, help and make you feel safe - so please do stop and speak to them if you have any concerns."
