Rotherham crash victim named as police begin murder investigation

A man who died in a crash in Rotherham has been named as 20-yer-old Mackenzie Ball, as police begin a murder investigation.

He was the passenger in a Land Rover which was involved in a collision with a Subaru on Morthern Road in the Wickersley area on Sunday (June 02).

The family of Mackenzie Ball, known as Mac, paid tribute to him in a statement: “Our family are absolutely devastated at the loss of our son Mac.

"He has been taken from us too soon.

"If anyone has any information about the incident, we ask that they contact the police. We ask that we may be given some privacy in which to grieve at this time.”

A 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

In an update on Tuesday (June 02), police confirmed they were treating the collision as murder, and issued a fresh plea for witnesses.
