The number of children being arrested on suspicion of knife crime in South Yorkshire has gone up over the last year.

Hallam FM has seen exclusive figures which show last year 20 young people aged 15 and under were arrested, while in 2014 there were just five.

Detective Chief Inspector Steve Whitaker from South Yorkshire Police said:

"There's a good chance that the figures only represent the people we stop, so there's a very good chance it could be more than 20.

"I'd urge anyone to think twice about it. If you've got any information about people carrying knives I'd ask you to contact us or Crimestoppers."
