Richard Hawley to play The Leadmill before legendary venue shuts
He's the second big act confirmed to play the Sheffield venue this week - after Miles Kane
The Leadmill has confirmed that Sheffield rocker Richard Hawley will return to the stage for one final performance, before the iconic venue closes later this month.
The singer-songwriter, from Pitsmoor, will play The Leadmill on June 18.
He first shot to fame as a member of Britpop band Longpigs, before going on to work as a touring musician for Pulp.
He's also collaborated with Arctic Monkeys, Manic Street Preachers and Elbow among others.
Management at The Leadmill lost a High Court appeal against being evicted by landlords The Electric Group, who want to take over the venue themselves.
However it will have to be renamed, as the company do not own the rights to the 'Leadmill' name.
To mark the closure a 'Last Dance at The Leadmill' event will be held on June 28, with Miles Kane taking to the stage the night before.
Management have also confirmed that they will work to relocate acts booked for later in the year to other venues in the city.
