Residents Rescued From Doncaster Fire

Firefighters have rescued residents from two flats following a fire on Palm Avenue in Armthorpe, Doncaster.

Firefighters have rescued residents from two flats following a fire on Palm Avenue in Armthorpe, Doncaster.

Three fire crews from Doncaster and Thorne stations were called to the incident at 3am Thursday morning. On arrival smoke was issuing from the two storey block of flats

Four people were trapped in a first floor flat. Firefighters used a ladder to rescue the people and two dogs from a window.

A further four people from a ground floor flat were also led to safety by fire crews.

The fire was to the rear of the flats and involved rubbish, however smoke from the fire had entered the building and trapped the people inside.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used hose reels to extinguish the fire.

Three occupants from the first floor flat went to hospital.

An investigation is ongoing into the cause of the fire.
