Police appeal for American tourist to come forward after man dies at Derwent reservoir

A man in his 40s died close to the Upper Derwent Visitor Centre shortly before 4.30pm on Saturday

Police are appealing for a man, thought to be an American tourist, to come forward after a death at the Upper Derwent Reservoir over the weekend.

The man, in his 40s, was found in a car park close to the Upper Derwent Visitor Centre shortly before 4.30pm on Saturday (October 19) and was pronounced dead at the scene.

His family have been made aware.

Officers are now trying to trace the trace the tourist as a potential witness as he left the scene before they arrived.

There are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances around the death.
