Police re-appeal for information of murder of Doncaster woman 20 years ago
Nora Tait was bludgeoned to death in her home on October 12th 2005
The daughter of a woman who was murdered in her own home is appealing for information twenty years on from her death.
Nora Tait was 69-years-old when she was bludgeoned to death in her home on Stone Close Avenue on this day (October 12th) in 2005.
Her body was discovered by a close family friend the next day, as police found that her fish and chip dinner had not been touched when she was killed.
Now, twenty years on from her murder, daughter Jayne has returned to the house where Nora died and spoke with police on the need to get justice for her family.
Speaking at her house, Jayne said: ""It feels quite emotional to be back after all this time," Jayne said. "My mum wasn't in a place she shouldn't have been. She was in her own home and somewhere she should have been safe.
"You don't expect your parent to be taken in such a horrific way. It was so undeserved and brutal."
Jayne appealed that anyone who may have any information regarding Nora's killer to come forward to police as soon as possible.
"If someone does know something, please just report it to police and give our family the closure we need. I think we deserve it, and my mum definitely deserves it.
"We are yet to put a gravestone on my mum's grave because we are waiting for this final closure. To have those answers really would mean the absolutely world to me and my family, and it would mean we could finally lay our mum to rest."
Police have remained in touch with Jayne and her family helping to explore every lead, revealing that over 3,000 lines of enquiry have been looked into.
Anyone who may have any fresh information that could be helpful to officers investigating can reach out by calling 101 and quoting incident reference number 199 from October 8th, 2025.
