Person rushed to hospital following Sheffield fire

Emergency services have been responding to a serious fire at a premises on Chesterfield Road in Sheffield.

Seven fire engines and a turntable ladder were deployed at around 10.30am on Sunday (7 February).

One casualty has been brought out of the premises and has been taken to hospital by ambulance.

The fire is mostly extinguished but crews are continuing to search neighbouring properties for any further casualties.

People are being asked to avoid the area if possible.

The fire is thought to have started at a row of shops which also has residential flats above.

South Yorkshire Fire say an investigation into the cause will begin once the fire has been completely extinguished.
