People across the Penistone & Stocksbridge constituency losing patience with the PM
Pressure is mounting on Boris Johnson after he admitted going to a gathering in the Downing Street garden during lockdown
A few MP's in the Prime Minister's own party are now publicly saying they want him to quit, after he confessed yesterday to going to a gathering in the Downing Street garden during lockdown on the 20th May 2020.
Boris Johnson apologised and says he was thanking staff - a defence which has been backed up by two of his Cabinet colleagues.
Also, the PM's spokesman insists he never saw an email inviting everyone to bring their own booze.
Police say they don't think the event broke health laws.
We've been hearing from voters in the traditional 'Labour' heartlands constituency of Penistone and Stocksbridge on the latest revelations.
The area dramatically switched to Conservative in the 2019 General Election, but locals reckon another swing could be around the corner following the actions of the Prime Minister.
Alison Turner works as a florist in Fox Valley area of Stocksbridge:
"I don't think Boris Johnson's apology was good enough.
"The Queen sat on her own when it was Prince Philip's funeral, shops were having to shut down and put their staff on furlough as well-we've all made sacrifices.
"After this, he should resign. There's no doubt about it, Boris needs to go.
"I can't see people around here backing his party for much longer unless things change."
