Police have stepped up patrols in the Dunscroft area of Doncaster, after reports of a gun being fired last night.

It happened at around 7:02pm last night in Ingram Crescent. Armed officers were called to the scene along with a police helicopter.

Nobody was hurt but a vehicle and property were damaged.

No firearms were found at the scene and no arrests have been made. Police are now appeals for witnesses to get in touch.

Detective Inspector Claire Moss, of South Yorkshire Police, said:

"Fortunately, no one was injured during this reckless incident carried out by suspects who are understood to have fled from the scene.

"This has rightly caused some concern and worry in the local community. Residents were just going about their usual business when they heard this awful incident occur.

"Our officers will be in and around this area over the coming days. Please do stop and talk to us if you have any concerns or questions."
