South Yorkshire's Mayoral Combined authority has voted in favour of using 138 million pounds to help re-open Doncaster Sheffield Airport.

It's following a meeting earlier today - with a full business case now set to be submitted next month on the proposals.

South Yorkshire's Mayor - Oliver Coppard - wants the cash to be used to fund a 10-year-plan to revitalise the airport:

"I wish I could tell people when the airport will be back up and running, but we're going to do this in the right way, not just the quickest way.

"This is a big step, this is the right step, so we can provide the best possible future for DSA, with sustainable aviation and advanced manufacturing sectors leading the way in terms of jobs, growth, and opportunities."

The next developments on the proposals should take place in March when the full business case is submitted.
