A crossing at the spot where a Sheffield schoolgirl was knocked down and killed has been officially opened.

Our Chief Reporter Laura Pennington was there for it:

A ceremony took place on Normanton Hill in Intake where Jasmyn Chan was hit in May 2014.

The fourteen year old saved her friend by pushing her out of the way.

Campaigners collected thousands of signatures on a petition calling for the new crossing.

They've repeatedly raised concerns about drivers going faster than the 30mph limit.

It was a speeding driver who killed Jasmyn.

Her family, friends, campaigners, local councillors and those who put the crossing in all gathered for its official opening.

It was followed by a balloon release in nearby Richmond Park.
