The next edition of the world's oldest footballing derby, between Sheffield FC and Hallam FC, has been postponed due to the snow.

The two teams first played each other in a competitive fixture at Sandygate 165 years ago, but haven't gone head to head since 2012.

Tuesday night's Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup tie was due to be played in front of a sell out crowd of around 1500.

In a statement, Hallam FC wrote: "Following a meeting of ground staff, club officials and a local referee, the club have made the early decision to postpone tomorrow’s game with Sheffield FC due to snow."

"Following discussions with our opponents and the Sheffield and Hallamshire County FA, the game will now be played next Tuesday the 21st of January. Kick off 7:45pm.

"All tickets bought, both physical and online are still valid for the rearranged fixture. For those now unable to attend, we will put out our plan for refunds as soon as possible."
