It's thought 'illegal, off road-bikers' are now a 'real concern' for people living across South Yorkshire.

Last month - a three-year old boy was left with minor injuries after he was involved in a hit & run with two off-road bikers in Barnsley.

Nick Fletcher - who's the MP for Don Valley - says it's been a problem in his constituency for a while:

"We do need to stop these off-road bikers. It is difficult for the police to stop them, because if they do give chase, it could always lead to an accident.

"However, there's going to be an accident caused by these off-road bikers anyway.

"A lot of the vehicles don't have registration plates on them, and it's a real concern for people.

"We do rely on the public to report incidents involving off-road bikers.

"The role of the public is hugely important.

"I've been told by the police as well that if these young people aren't wearing helmets on their vehicles, then they can be reported via 999 instead of 101.

"It's a new phenomenon that seems to be happening. A lot of people are upset about it.

"I will be speaking to the Home Secretary about what we can on this.

"I genuinely believe it's a huge issue, and we need to do all we can to stop it as soon as possible."

The incident in Barnsley last month happened while the child was walking with his parents near Cundy Cross, leaving both him and his parents extremely distressed.
