Murder investigation launched in Rotherham

A 45-year-old man died yesterday after reports of an assault in the town just after 1pm

A murder investigation has been launched after a man died in Rotherham yesterday (Tuesday 5 October).

Emergency services were called at 1.10pm to reports a man had been assaulted on Williams Street, Parkgate, Rotherham.

The 45-year-old was found with serious injuries. He was taken to hospital but sadly died approximately three hours later.

A post-mortem examination is expected to take place later today.

Police arrested a 28-year-old man on suspicion of murder yesterday evening. He remains in police custody.

There will be a police presence on Williams Street and the surrounding area today while officers carry out their enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.
