'Mini heatwave' set to arrive in South Yorkshire
It could reach around 22 degrees today
The UK could see close to record breaking temperatures for March over the next few days - including here in South Yorkshire.
Highs here could hit 22 degrees today - and some places will be hotter than areas in the Mediterranean.
Alex Deakin is a Senior Meteorologist at the Met Office and told us it will only last for a few days though:
"We're going to be close to record breaking temperatures for March in some spots over the next few days.
"Tuesday and Wednesday will see the peak of those temperatures, as we could see highs of 23-24 degrees Celsius in some areas of the country.
"So, there will be plenty of fine, sunny weather over the next few days, but don't get too used to it, as temperatures should drop again for the Easter weekend."
With many kids off school for Easter, families are expected head to parks and beauty spots but they're being reminded to stick to social distancing and other Covid rules.
It'll mean a big boost for places like Wentworth Woodhouse in Rotherham which has opened its gardens to the public
Paula Kaye's Chief Operating Officer - she's expecting a busy day:
"We've obviously expecting to have lots of families coming into the gardens over the next few days. The glorious sunshine that we're expecting is going to make sure we have a few more people joining us.
"The garden is fully open - we have 50 acres. So we're expecting to be nice and busy."
Yesterday lockdown restrictions eased to allow people to meet with six people outdoors.
Paula says the hot weather has come at just the right time:
"It's like the stars have aligned in terms of the Rule of Six - with people being able to come together and two households being able to join together.
"I think it's great that we've got the nice weather to be able to really support that. We've done a garden trail for families that visit."
