Mexborough man among two charged over alleged cryptocurrency fraud

It's after a man in Aberdeenshire was allegedly conned out of a six figure sum

Two men, including one from South Yorkshire, have been arrested as part of an investigation into alleged fraud involving cryptocurrencies.

It comes after a 75 year old man from Aberdeenshire reported being conned out of a six figure sum.

A 36 year old man was arrested by Police Scotland officers in Mexborough, while a 54 year old man was arrested in Coventry.

Both have now been charged with fraud offences, with a file handed over the to Procurator Fiscal - the public prosecution service in Scotland.

Detective Sergeant David Williamson, of Police Scotland, said: “This operation demonstrates our commitment to ensuring people are protected from fraud. We will do everything in our power to bring those responsible to justice.

“I would also encourage members of the public to be mindful of activity which appears fraudulent and to report this to police.”
