Children and teenagers in Sheffield are being given the chance to find out more about mental health services in the city and help improve them.

Young Healthwatch, a group which gives young people the chance to influence local health services, has helped organise a mini conference.

There'll be professionals there as well as organisations and groups which have been campaigning for change.

The group says the aim is to "showcase what is happening in Sheffield around mental health".

Rebecca Batley, 19, is part of the group and will be sharing her experience with anxiety and depression before being diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder.

She said:

"I will be wanting to know what they are doing around mental health stigma and what they are doing to help me like me in my situation, helping people with early intervention.

  • *

"It's always great to have children and young people's voices heard. It's a massively empowering thing. I find that involving myself in this sort of thing boosts my own mental health so it would be great to give that opportunity to other people as well."

The event is taking place on the 24th November at 5:30pm at the Circle on Rockingham lane.

It's open to anyone aged between 14 and 25 years old.
