People living on a Sheffield estate, where police are investigating a murder, have told Hallam they don't feel safe walking the streets.

Residents of Wensley Estate in Firth Park are organising a meeting to discuss tackling crime in the area.

The death of 31 year old Sami Sarsoori from stab wounds over the weekend is just the latest example of violence there.

A 21 year old's been charged with his murder.

Nasar Raoof lives on the estate - he's organising the meeting:

"Why is this constantly happening on our watch? This is the fourth murder I can think of with direct links to this estate and we're sick and tired of burying our young ones at such an early age. We need to look at the underlying issues here and challenge them.

"We need people to start talking through some of the problems that we have around here. We need more police presence - not just while the police cordons are up but as a long term resolution to make us all feel safer. I shouldn't feel as though I'm scared to walk a certain part of the area I've been brought up and raised in "

Police are still appealing for witnesses to the murder over the weekend - and they've stepped up patrols in the area.

Nasar says they need a long-term solution though:

"More police presence is what we're requesting on a constant basis, rather than just as a one-off basis. What we're also asking is from the community - silence is no longer an option. We can't remain silent if these people are hiding among us - these criminals, these thugs - we need to root them out, make the authorities aware and get the authorities to take action.

"My mum lives at the top of the lane and I live at the bottom. There's about a mile or so distance - my mum likes to walk it. I would never let her walk it now - I'm so scared she might get caught up in something. I'm absolutely terrified and I'm a young 31 year old lad in the community."

We've contacted South Yorkshire Police for a response.
