A man's suffered serious and potentially life altering injuries following a dog attack in Rotherham.
Police went to Denman Road to respond to reports of a dog bite incident on Monday afternoon around 4.30pm.
A 31-year-old man was seriously hurt while a 54-year-old woman suffered minor injuries.
Officers tried to capture the dog but say it was unable to be controlled and posed a risk of escaping and causing further injuries - the dog was later destroyed.
South Yorkshire Police have said:
"Enquiries are ongoing to determine how the dog came to be dangerously out of control and officers are appealing for witnesses of the incident and those with CCTV footage to come forward.
