A man who was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter following the death of ice hockey player Adam Johnson in Sheffield has been re-bailed.

Adam, 29, was fatally injured during a game between the Sheffield Steelers and Nottingham Panthers on 28th October last year. He was sadly later pronounced deceased in hospital, and a post-mortem examination confirmed he died as a result of a neck injury.

A man arrested on 14th November last year on suspicion of manslaughter was later bailed. He has today (Monday 2 September) been further re-bailed until 11th November 2024.

South Yorkshire Police say their investigation is ongoing, and their thoughts remain with Adam’s family.

If there are any developments in the investigation ahead of the new bail expiry date, these will be issued proactively on the South Yorkshire Police website.
