Man murdered in Balby could have been injured 'over number of days'
Police investigating murder of Christopher Cumpsty say somebody knows what happened, and they need to come forward.
Police investigating the murder of a man in Doncaster say his injuries could have happened over a number of days.
The body of Christopher Cumpsty, 43, was found in the early hours of Friday 11 March at his home on Cross Street in Balby. The dad had only moved to the area around six months ago.
Police say he had extensive internal injuries which may have been caused over a number of hours or days. They are keeping an open mind about whether more than one attacker was involved, or if a weapon was used.
Detective Chief Inspector Victoria Short, who's heading up the investigation, said Christopher had been found injured by a police officer two days before he was found dead: "At 11.30am on Wednesday 11 March, he was found on the floor round the corner from his home on Oliver Road.
"He said he'd just fallen off his bike. He was a cyclist so it was not unusual for him to be in that location at that time with a pedal cycle. However, the injuries were not really consistent with him falling off his bike.
"He had extensive facial injuries. What I'm trying to establish is what happened after that leading up to him being found at his home address."
Christopher lived in Lancaster for most of his life, but came to Balby to rekindle an old relationship.
"He's been seriously assaulted," says DI Short.
"It's a targeted attack on Christopher. His family are devastated for the death of their son, and brother. Every little piece of information will help us paint that picture of the events leading up to his death."
