Man charged in connection with stabbing in Sheffield

A man has been charged in connection with a stabbing in Sheffield over the weekend.

South Yorkshire Police have confirmed that they charged the 20-year-old yesterday (Thursday 4 July) following the incident on Sunday (June 30).

Police were called at 21:09 that night by the ambulance service to reports of a serious assault on Langsett Road in Oughtibridge.

They were rushed out to the scene after it's reported a 19-year-old man had been stabbed, receiving injuries to his abdomen.

He remains in hospital in a critical but stable condition.

David Scothern, 20, of Byron Avenue, Sheffield, has been charged with attempted robbery, possession of an offensive weapon, possession of a bladed article, dangerous driving and driving without insurance.

He has been remanded in custody ahead of his court appearance at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court today (Friday 5 July).

The 20-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of affray has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
