Man charged with possessing firearm after being stopped by police in Sheffield city centre

A man has been charged with possessing a firearm and ammunition after being stopped by police in Sheffield city centre.

23-year-old Hassan Mohammad was detained as part of a plain-clothes police operation on Wednesday (24 January).

He has also been charged with possessing a knife blade in a public place, possession with intent to supply heroin and cocaine and possession of criminal property and remanded in custody following a court appearance.

A second man, detained at the same time, was charged with seven offences including possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, being concerned in the supply of cocaine, possession of a knife blade in a public place and three counts of possessing criminal property.

Abdulrahman Yafooz, 26, of Mount Street, Sheffield, has also been remanded into custody.
