Liam Palmer takes over as Sheffield Wednesday captain, as Owls capture Luton forward on loan

Defender Liam Palmer has become Sheffield Wednesday's new club captain today, while Owls have also announced a loan signing to boost their options up front.
34 year old Palmer ahs been with Wednesday since the age of seven, moving through the academy before making his first team breakthrough during the 2010-11 season.
He has made close to 500 appearances for Owls over his time, although he also spent time out on loan at Tranmere in 2012/13.
He replaces the outgoing Barry Bannan, who signed for Wolves earlier this week.
Elsewhere Owls have managed to secure the services of forward Jerry Yates on loan from Luton Town.
The 29 year old will spend the rest of the season with Wednesday. He is no stranger to South Yorkshire having previously spent time at Rotherham and Doncaster.
