Labour has lost its majority on Sheffield City Council after a disastrous day of local election results for the party.

Eight of its seats went, including that of council leader Bob Johnson whose Hillsborough seat was won by Christine Gilligan Kubo of the Green Party.

It means no party now has overall control of the council.

Five of Labour's seats went to the Green Party and three to the Liberal Democrats.

The local election count has been taking place at the English Institute of Sport

The Conversative Party also got its first Conservative councillor in twenty years as Lewis Chinchen won Stocksbridge and the Upper Don.
