Third arrest made in Chesterfield murder investigation
It follows the death of Jason Smith in the town last month
A third man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of Jason Smith in Chesterfield last month.
The 53 year old was attacked at around 1pm on January 20 at a home in Southgate Way, Barrow Hill.
Jason was found with life-threatening injuries and died in hospital two years later.
A 20-year-old man from Sheffield was initially arrested and released on police bail.
On January 29, a second man, aged 46 and of no fixed address, was arrested and recalled to prison on an unrelated matter.
The latest arrest saw a 26-year-old man from Sheffield detained yesterday. He has since been released on bail.
The investigation into Mr Smith's death is ongoing, with anyone with information urged to contact Derbyshire Police on 101.
