Investigation launched after teenager stabbed in Sheffield City Centre
Police were called at 4.20pm yesterday afternoon
An investigation is underway after a teenager was stabbed outside the Town Hall in Sheffield.
Police were called around 4.20pm yesterday, they found the boy had wounds to his neck.
His injuries are thought to be serious but not life threatening.
Officers say they are working to find out what happened.
A Police spokesperson said:
"An investigation has been launched this evening (12 September) following a teenager being stabbed in Sheffield City Centre.
"At 4:20pm we received a call to inform us that a 14-year-old boy needed medical assistance on Norfolk Street.
"Emergency Services attended and the boy was taken to hospital with wounds to his neck. His injuries are serious, but not believed to be life-threatening.
"It is believed the incident happened close by the Town Hall and a scene was in place while enquiries were carried out.
"Officers and detectives will remain in the area while they work to understand how the boy became injured."
Sheffield Response Inspector Josh Setterfield said:
“We understand how incidents of this nature cause concern for our communities, and I want to reassure you that we are working quickly and efficiently to understand who caused an injury to a boy, and why.
