An investigation is underway after a man was stabbed in Sheffield.

Police were called to Darnall yesterday to reports of men fighting - a 21 year old was taken to hospital where he is in a serious but stable condition.

A Police spokesperson said:

"We were called at 6.13pm earlier today (9 April) to Staniforth Road in the Darnall area of Sheffield following reports of a group of men fighting.

"A 21-year-old man has been taken to hospital with multiple suspected stab wounds and is in a serious but stable condition.

"Emergency services remain at the scene and a cordon is in place on Staniforth Road between Studley Court and Main Road while officers carry out their work.

"There will be additional patrols in the area to reassure members of the community and we would encourage anyone with information to get in touch."
