Headteachers in South Yorkshire 'completely in support' of plans to ban disposable vapes

Critics argue the ban in England, Scotland and Wales won't discourage children from taking up the habit, but will instead push the market underground

Headteachers across South Yorkshire & North Derbyshire tell us they're 'completely in support' of plans to ban disposable vapes in England, Scotland, and Wales.

The Prime Minister - Rishi Sunak - announced the proposals yesterday - in a bid to crack down on their use amongst children.

Pepe Di'iasio is the Headteacher of Wales High School in Rotherham:

"For too long now, they've been far too easy to gain access to.

"They've become commonplace in schools up and down the country.

"I think everyone recognises they've been targeted at young people, and have become far too easy to get hold of.

"More and more research evidence has become available that highlights the dangers of these vapes.

"It's really important that parents and young people understand that although they may be seen as an attractive replacement for nicotine, they aren't safe.

"We would encourage parents to make sure that young people don't get hold of disposable vapes, and don't use them.

"This seems to me like a really sensible change of policy and is something I'm completely supportive of."

The new rules are due to come into effect from early next year.
