Labour has held on to the Westminster seat of Sheffield Brightside and Hillsborough
Labour has held on to the Westminster seat of Sheffield Brightside and Hillsborough in a by-election triggered by the death of former miner Harry Harpham.
Mr Harpham's widow Gill Furniss saw off a challenge from Ukip to win the seat with 14,087 votes, a majority of 9,590.
The poll in David Blunkett's former constituency saw Ukip hold on to the second place which they first secured in the 2015 general election, beating Liberal Democrats into third and Conservatives in fourth.
