Doncaster North MP Ed Miliband says government plans to tackle emissions 'don't go far enough.'

Boris Johnson has revealed a 10-point plan to fight climate change.

It includes banning the sale of new petrol and diesel cars by 2030 - 10 years sooner than expected.

But critics fear the infrastructure won't be in place in time to support that.

There's also a plan to harness enough offshore wind to power every home, and to promote nuclear as a clean energy source.

Mr Miliband wants to see a more ambitious approach, though:

"We set a clear test for him. A test that said we should bring forward £30 billion of capital investment, put it into low carbon industries over the next 18 months and create 400,000 jobs.

"So, what has he responded with? A plan that is nothing like the scale of the emergency we face.

He continued: "The plans are a drop in the ocean compared to what we need to tackle the jobs crisis and get us back on track because we are off track from the green targets that we have.

"There isn't enough urgency. There isn't enough ambition. There isn't a real plan.

"Boris Johnson has to do better. It is in all of our interests that he does better. We will keep pushing the government on ambition, on jobs, on a proper plan to rise to the scale of the climate emergency we face and to rise to the scale of the jobs emergency we face."
