Gun fired at property in Thorne
South Yorkshire Police have launched an appeal for information
Police in Doncaster are appealing for information after reporter of a gun being fired at a property in Thorne in the early hours of Friday morning (12 April).
It’s reported those in Mansion Court Gardens heard a loud bang at about half past midnight by a man on a bike.
We’re told there’ll be extra patrols by officers to reassure locals whilst investigations into what happened continue.
They say the man is reported to have been dressed in all dark clothing - and CCTV showed him concealing a shotgun under his clothes before riding off on his bike.
Officers later spotted 'damage consistent with shotgun discharge', and a scene was put in place in the street while officers conducted their work, with house-to-house and CCTV enquiries carried out.
Nobody was injured - but the property suffered structural damage.
It's less than a week since it's believed the same property was targeted by two men throwing bricks through the windows.
This happened back on April 7th, and nobody was injured.
Detective Sergeant Phil Muggeridge, from Doncaster's Reactive CID team, said: "This is an alarming incident that happened in a residential street, and it is fortunate that no one was injured.
"We understand that news of this firearms discharge will have caused concern in the community and we want to thank local residents who have supported our officers as they carried out their enquiries.
"We will not tolerate gun crime here in South Yorkshire. It puts innocent people in danger and at risk of serious harm and we are working relentlessly to find the person who pulled the trigger.
"It is incredibly important that anyone who has information that could help us with our investigation comes forward. The intelligence we receive from members of the public is vital and goes a long way to help us identify those responsible for incidents of gun crime.
"We would be particularly keen to hear from anyone in the local area who may have seen the suspect or has relevant CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage that could assist us with our investigation."
DS Muggeridge is also keen to hear from anyone who may have information regarding the report of bricks thrown at the same property in Mansion Court Gardens last Sunday.
He said: "We are still pursuing various lines of enquiry in relation to this incident as well and I would encourage anyone who has relevant footage that could help our investigation to please get in touch."
Joe Hunt, South Yorkshire Police's Chief Inspector for Neighbourhoods in Doncaster, said: "We will be carrying out additional proactive patrols in Mansion Court Gardens and the surrounding area.
"This is for the public's reassurance and I would encourage anyone with concerns to stop our officers and speak to them at the scene. They are there to listen to you and provide appropriate support where possible."
