Woman who was killed in Greenhill described as a 'cheerful soul'
People in the local community have been paying tribute to Marcia Grant who died last week
A woman who was killed in Sheffield a week ago today has been described as someone with 'a kind heart & a wonderful smile'.
60-year-old Marcia Grant died last Wednesday evening when she was hit by a car outside her home on Hemper Lane.
Chris Key runs a homecare store in Greenhill.
He tells us Marcia was a regular customer:
"She was only in here a couple of weeks ago buying a few things.
"Last year, I was delivering plants to her house.
"It's just a bit too close for comfort.
"It was Marcia's smile more than anything. She seemed to be smiling all the time.
"You get people who come into your shop, and you enjoy serving them; Marcia was certainly one of those people.
"She was unforgettable and had an infectious beam about her."
Anthony Kirkham is the Manager of Barkers the Bakers just off Hemper lane.
He remembers serving Marcia:
"She's always been around, walked around, and shopped locally.
"I always thought she was very pleasant and well natured when she came in here from time to time."
Meanwhile, Michael Gormanly is a volunteer at Greenhill library nearby.
He says he often bumped into Marcia:
"She was always a friendly face in the neighbourhood and a cheerful soul.
"One of my walking routes is up Hemper Lane, and whenever I saw her we always wished each other a good day.
"It's absolutely tragic that something like this has happened in Greenhill."
A 12-year-old boy's been charged with her murder - as well as possession of a blade - he's since been remanded into custody with a trial date set for the summer.
