General Election 2017: South Yorkshire turns red
Labour now holds every single seat across the region. The UK has a hung Parliament, with Theresa May losing her majority after yesterday's general election.
Sheffield
In one of the biggest shocks of the night, former Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg lost his Sheffield Hallam seat by just over 2,000 votes.
Mr Clegg lost to Labour rival Jared O'Mara, who took Sheffield Hallam with 21,881 votes to Mr Clegg's 19,756.
A sombre-looking Mr Clegg said he had "never shirked from the political battlefield'' and warned of the "agonising'' future ahead for the next government that seeks to unite a divided country.
HallamFM's in the heart of the Nick Clegg's former constituency this morning where Lib Dem campaigning messages are already being removed.
There was no change in Sheffield South East as Clive Betts was re-elected for Labour.
Doncaster
The party's success continued in Doncaster, with former Labour leader Ed Milliband keeping a hold of Labour's Doncaster North seat.
Labour MP Rosie Winterton had a 10,000 strong majority of her Conservative rival, Tom Hunt. Labour claimed nearly 60% of the vote.
Caroline Flint was one of the first Labour MP's to be re-elected in the same seat, where she beat Tory candidate Aaron Bell by around 5,000 votes.
Barnsley
Newcomer Stephanie Peacock claimed yet another victory for the Labour party in South Yorkshire, with over 24,000 votes.
Labour MP Dan Jarvis was re-elected for Barnsley Central, where he made an emotional speech.
Labour claimed a full house in Sheffield, with Angela Smith becoming the final Sheffield MP to win a seat for the Labour party.
Rotherham
John Healey was re-elected in his Wentworth and Deane seat with 28,547 votes.
Elsewhere, MP for Rotherham, Sarah Champion, also retained her seat having received 21,404.
Rother Valley MP, Kevin Barron, also kept his seat taking nearly 50% of the vote.
