A man from South Yorkshire who slept rough behind Sheffield train station for six months believes 'we should all be doing more to end homelessness in society'.

In 2015, Chris Royston-who's originally from Barnsley-spent half a year living in a tent, whilst managing to hold down a job in a supermarket at the same time.

Now, the 43-year-old is working with the homeless charity Shelter on a national campaign-in a bid to get more vulnerable people off the streets.

His recent petition on the issue was signed by nearly 30,000 people:

"It's absolutely fantastic that the 29,000 individuals from all around the country have all come together and united in this cause. I'm very grateful.

"The response from the public has reduced me to tears more than once.

"I never want anyone to experience homelessness. It's just awful.

"When the Government speak about levelling up, let's take everyone with us who we can support and help.

"These people do have a lot of potential; they've just had some tough times in their lives."

The Government announced last month that they'll be investing £28 million to help rough sleepers across the country get vaccinated & move into safe housing.
