Firefighters tackle large blaze at Tata in Rotherham

10 fire engines and more than 50 firefighters have tackled a fire at Tata Steel on Aldwarke Lane, Rotherham.

10 fire engines and more than 50 firefighters have tackled a fire at Tata Steel on Aldwarke Lane, Rotherham.

The fire involved several thousand litres of oil, but crews quickly contained the blaze to one building.

All on site personnel were safely evacuated and there are no reports of any injuries.

A high volume pump was set up to help firefighters access water from an on site reservoir.

Crews were first called to the incident shortly after 1am this morning. Fire engines from Rotherham, Parkway, Central, Elm Lane, Edlington, Dearne, Birley Moor, Stocksbridge and Tankersley stations attended, leaving at around 6am.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
